To my fellow lady golfers,
We all know being a woman isn’t always fun and easy, but isn’t there something special about slipping into a brand new, fresh outfit, feeling confident and comfortable, and heading out to whack some golf balls? I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking women’s golf outfits can be downright adorable, so why not blend the thrill of shopping for stylish, comfortable clothes with the excitement of the game of golf.
Now, I know golf isn’t just about looking good, but feeling confident in a cute outfit is a part of the game I personally love. That’s why The Tailored Tee’s mantra is simple: Look Better, Feel Better, Play Better. Confidence and comfort are at the heart of every great player, and it all begins with the right apparel.
In this post, we’ll talk seasonal golf gear, because let's be real, golfers don’t let a little breeze, cloud, or even snow stop them from hitting the course. Whether you're playing under the summer sun or braving chilly off-season rounds, I’ve got you covered with outfits that blend style and function. Be sure to keep in mind that quality & comfort are basically equal to a hole-in-one here, so I will only be recommending items that I’ve tried, are greatly reviewed and that follow my essential takeaways you’ll see here.
— Summer Women’s Golf Takeaways —
Breathable & Stretchable Skirts/Shorts
When it comes to skirts & shorts, flexibility is key. You want something that moves with you, not against you. Polyester blended with spandex is an ideal option as it is lightweight, breathable, and provides just the right amount of stretch to let you swing freely without restriction.
Lightweight & Breathable Tops
Again, it is essential to look for fabrics that don’t restrict your movement. While cotton is more breathable than polyester, polyester tends to be more water-resistant and durable for outdoor activities. Be mindful of the fit on your body; too tight and you’ll feel constrained, too loose and you’ll lose that tailored look.
UV Protection & Accessories
UV protection isn’t just a bonus, it is honestly a must. Look for fabrics with built-in UV resistance, those with a tighter knit to prevent harmful rays from penetrating or those with shine to reflect heat. Plus, a well-chosen golf hat or visor not only keeps you shaded but adds a stylish finishing touch to your outfit.
Check out the fabric ranking below for breathability, lightweight, stretchability and moisture-wicking abilities and fine-tune your needs to what is most important to you!
Breathability: Cotton > Polyester > Spandex
Lightweight: Spandex > Polyester > Cotton
Moisture-Wicking: Polyester > Spandex > Cotton
Stretchability: Spandex > Polyester (blended with spandex) > Cotton (blended with spandex)
Nothing is worse on a hot golf day then not coming prepared & wearing clothes unfit for some unavoidably sweaty bodies… if anyone ever says golf isn’t a workout, they are very wrong. Personally, I always opt for stretchy, breathable golf skirts, as I find some golf shorts do that inevitable ride-up, especially if walking instead of riding. So, let’s start with something affordable yet high quality, and simple yet stylish.
Trendy high-waisted fit — white & other colors offered
Soft, skin-friendly, and breathable fabric to help wick away moisture & sweat
Inner shorts to prevent chaffing and promote comfort
6 pockets fitting various items (phone, tees, balls, glove, etc.)
UPF 50+ to prevent sunburn during outdoor activities
82% Polyester, 18% Spandex
I love an all-white item because you can pair pretty much any color or pattern with it on the top, and I find that if you’re like me & you like to look a bit tanner, it really accentuates any skin color to look more radiant.
Below is another example of a golf skort that offers more flair than just a solid color. This golf skort has a stylish print and flowy silhouette. Designed with high-tech, breathable fabric, it wicks moisture and dries quickly, so you stay comfortable even on the hottest days. The inner shorts prevent chafing, while the long and short lengths ensure you can pick the perfect fit.
Patterned Daily Sports Valenti 15/18" Flared Golf Skort
Created with high-tech breathable fabric & mesh-like overlay to promote breathability
Inner shorts to prevent chaffing and promote comfort
Rapid dry from moisture & no color fade
Longer & shorter lengths available to meet your preference
90% polyester, 10% elastane
Now, let’s look at an example of how cute a golf dress can be. I know, a dress is a bit backwards thinking. Usually, a dress might you think of something more formal, not necessarily golf, but trust me when I say, as someone who has golf dresses, they are unbelievably comfortable in the summer & so easily look appealing. Just like a built in skort, instead of buying shorts to go underneath, this item’s got you covered! It comes with shorts the same color, plus it’s the perfect way to add some oomph to your fairway fit.
Tail Lei Pink & White Sleeveless Women’s Golf Dress
Offered in pink, gray & two different tones of blue
Soft & stretchable polyester and spandex fabric
Wrinkle-free which means no need for ironing!
Inner shorts to prevent chaffing and promote comfort
Two side pockets & two hip pockets on shorts underneath
UPF 50+ to prevent sunburn during outdoor activities
89.5% Polyester, 10.5% Spandex; Cloud Fabric (enhances breathability)
For a little style inspiration on the top! Sleeveless polos, V-necks or neck covering tees are my go-to, but I am lets just say, a wild armpit sweater. So, for me, I like my armpits to breathe. Sleeved polos are classic though, can’t say it enough & are probably what most of us already have. For example, see the green, sleeveless polo here. I love this, simple yet so cute and affordable — & look at that green, you’ll be out there playin like you’re at the Master’s before you know it!
Curved hemline accentuates hips, achieving a more hourglass waistline
UPF 50+ fabric protects your skin from harmful sun rays
100% polyester
Now, this next shirt might be a bit pricier, but I absolutely love this 3-color polo. Pink, white & black complement each other so well, plus, this item is actually on sale right now!
BelynKey Birdie Onyx/Cherry Blossom Cap Sleeve Polo
4-way stretch, lightweight silky soft matte jersey — this is a specific fabric that is matte in appearance, super stretchy & has high drape (i.e. hugs your curves well)
UPF50+
Moisture wicking
90% Polyester, 10% Spandex
Cherry on top, grab a hat like the one here to finish off the outfit. I’d highly recommend a 100% polyester or a polyester-cotton combination for golf hats. Cotton might be more breathable, but it absorbs water and can’t misplace all that head sweat, so, my favorite golf hat that I currently have is that of polyester with added perforative or mesh panels to enhance breathability of the polyester.
Product Features:
100% polyester
Perforated side/back panels
Or, of course, opt for a visor like the one below and you’ll have ultimate breathability on top with an effective sweatband.
PUMA x AP Warm White Golf Visor
Moisture-wicking sweatband
One size fits all with hats
Alright, now that we’ve covered some inspiration for summer to keep you cool, comfy and stylish, let’s switch gears here & get into Winter/Off-Season golf, so that you can focus on the swing, not the shiver!
For those of us who aren’t afraid of a little chill, winter golf requires thoughtful layering, moisture-wicking fabrics, and extra warmth. This golf is not for the faint of heart. The game is certainly more challenging when you’re cold, and especially when you’ve got a wet, slick club or a strong breeze that hits in all the wrong ways. While others might be putting their bags away waiting for that perfect 70-degree golf season, you’re out there proving the love for the game doesn’t have seasonal restrictions!
— Winter/Off-Season Women’s Golf Takeaways —
Warm, Insulated Layers
Layering is essential. Opt for materials that trap warmth without adding bulk, like wool, fleece, or blends of polyester, nylon, and spandex. These fabrics provide insulation, stretchability, and moisture-wicking properties which are all crucial for maintaining warmth and flexibility while preventing that course chill.
Waterproof Outerwear
For those committed golfers who don’t mind a little wind or rain, waterproof outerwear is a game changer. Make sure you layer accordingly, as these pieces will keep you dry and comfortable through all conditions.
Maintain Stretchability
While you want to stay warm, it’s also crucial that your layers move with you, so don’t forget to include fabrics that offer stretchability without sacrificing warmth.
Fabric choice summary is below:
Wool and Fleece Fabric — lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking, and excellent at trapping body heat.
Blends of Polyester, Nylon & Spandex — provides the stretchability and moisture-wicking properties needed for mobilizing your swing in the cold.
Windproof or Softshell Fabrics— Always opt for windproof or softshell layers on top. These materials protect against the elements while allowing for full range of motion.
And don’t forget about your hands & feet! Keeping them warm is key to staying comfortable and focused on your game. Wool athletic socks are an excellent choice, and yes, thermal-lined golf gloves do exist to keep your hands cozy while you grip the club.
Let’s take a look at our first example of off-season inspiration for one of those just slight chill or slight breeze kind of days — somewhere in the 50-60’s degree range — where a heavy-duty fleece or wool would only add to the sweat.
Product Features:

Moving onto the most cold of golf rounds, below is an example of a women’s fleece golf jacket and matching lined pant that will offer more warmth and insulation for those super cold morning tee-times — around 40-50 degrees.

I hope this guide has helped you appreciate the impact of fabric choice and given you some fresh ideas for blending fashion and function on the course. Whether you're teeing off in the heat of summer or playing through cooler months, there's no reason you can't feel your best while playing your best.
As always, remember my mantra …
Look better, feel better, play better!
